Bad luck. Ugh

I've really been looking forward to this long weekend

This is so not how I wanted to start it !!!

Got up early this morning. Finally feeling less sore after monday's workout. Physical therapy for the week done. Ready to go for a run!

And then this happened


How? Well, I was in the process of making my breakfast - eggs on a whole wheat english muffin. Went to get the english muffin out of the freezer. There are a couple mugs we keep in the freezer for beer and what not. And they unexpectedly came rolling out when I opened the door - right onto this toe.

That's what it felt like. I just sat on the floor yelling - partially from surprise and partially from pain, and holding my toe for about 5 minutes. That was one painful mf'er!!! 

Finally after about 20 minutes it calmed down a bit. It still hurts now and it's kind of difficult to walk. So yeah, no running for me today. In fact, I am not sure if I'll be able to get any running in at all during this long weekend. I guess it all depends on how this thing feels tomorrow. One thing's for sure, I'm definitely going to lose this toenail. That's gonna suck. 4 years ago I lost my other toenail during our big 43 mile hike in the Paria Canyon. I remember stepping up onto a rock and feeling like my toenail had been pulled back. 3 days later I was standing in an elevator in Vegas, looked down and said "Hun, is my toe purple to you?" Then began the all summer long process of losing and regrowing the toenail. I just hope this time it doesn't grow back ingrown - ouch! - 

This morning I was in a sour mood. I thought to myself "Something in this universe does NOT want me to run" I swear it feels like one thing after another sometimes. I've already lost enough running time due to my SI joint issues. Now this big ass mug falls on my big toe and stops me from running yet again. But I have to keep telling myself it'll be ok. That I CAN get back out there SOON. Runners lose toenails all the time. No big thing. SI joint, big toe, gotta take it one thing at a time. 

I've spent most of my week sore from workouts - that's a good thing, right? I started using our Ab Wheel again - that thing is brutal!

So I guess today I'll take a chill day, maybe run some errands. See if my toe feels up for a run tomorrow
