Not My Best (but I'll take it)

It's Saturday!

Did a pretty killer chest/tricep/shoulder workout on Thursday. I'm still sore!

(My usual rope climbing practice)
Tricep Dips
Bosu Ball Pushups, bouncy side down (these are HARD)
DB Bench
DB Skullcrushers
Kettlebell Front Raises
Tricep Extension on the bench
Shoulder Shrugs
Overhead Raise

Medicine Ball (abs)
- Twists
- Crunches
- Tosses while sitting on the Bosu (bouncy side) with feet off the ground (Boat pose)

20 burpees

I did this with K who did a few modifications - no Bosu balls and 10 burpees for her. She did great!

Last week went well in terms of my body adjusting to my new medicine. However.... I learned very quickly that you CANNOT skip a dose. I actually skipped two. Tuesday and Wednesday I forgot to take it with my dinner (needs to be taken with food) then I realized this on Thursday and took it at dinner. Next morning I woke up and felt like a wreck. Dizzy, nauseous, and in need of the toilet often. To make matters worse... I ate at Zaxby's for lunch as a Friday treat. BIG MISTAKE. Felt like piss for hours, then I felt ok from like 5-9 pm. I was watching a movie and about to go to sleep when all of a sudden I got violently sick to my stomach. So - No more missing doses!! And no more Zaxby's!

Unfortunately last night's events made today's long run quite difficult. 8 miles was what I had planned for today. I slept in an extra hour. Got out there, got lost trying to find the north trailhead parking lot (there isn't one, the website lied) and I gave up on the idea of running Big Rock and Tower today. Instead I ran Great Wall again. Things went badly around mile 3. I just felt like ass. No energy - I didn't get enough sleep, and it could also have to do with the fact that I purged everything that was in my body last night. My legs felt like cement blocks, stomach wasn't happy, and I had kind of a cold sweat thing going on. At this point I thought to myself, "You know, Great Wall is only 7.5 miles... you COULD just cut the run short, what's half a mile anyway?" I was so ready to be done. The last mile of Great Wall is all uphill... I soldiered on, no stopping to walk, just plodded ahead. I was so happy to see that sign at the end of the trail. But did I turn left towards the trailhead/parking lot? Nope. Turned right to finish the last half mile and commit to my original goal of 8 miles. Bam. It takes alot to make me quit a run early. I felt like crap, sure, but was this enough to make me quit? Nope.

Aside from it being 100% humidity it was a really pretty morning down here. I stopped to get a pic of the cool sign out by the main road

I still don't feel 100% but it's alright. I'm just hanging out at home taking it easy. Today made me realize yet another aspect of myself that has completely changed over the last 2 years. Before I was active, I would occasionally make sad attempts at going to the gym. And any day I didn't feel well or just didn't feel like going, I wouldn't Today those times are few and far between. I really have to be in rough shape to miss a workout altogether. And I'm pretty damn proud of myself for that.
