1. Would you rather run a 5k or a marathon?
5k. I have never run a marathon and don't really have the desire to. I might do one someday just as a bucket list thing, but aside from that I think a half marathon is the max distance I wanna go.
2. Would you rather run a flat race in the heat or a hilly race in the cold?
Hilly and cold. Even though I hate hills I fare so much better in cold weather.
3. Would you rather get new running shoes or a new running outfit?
I might be the weird one here but I'd rather get a new outfit. I don't have much of a fashion sense or even an interest in regular clothes, but get me into Academy or Dick's Sporting Goods? Good luck getting me out of there without buying the entire Under Armour department.
4. Would you rather run a race without headphones or without a Garmin?
Without a Garmin. I ran without a GPS for almost a year. I like having it but it's not a necessity. Music is a must have for me.
5. Would you rather run on the treadmill for an hour or in a circle around the same street block for an hour?
No treadmills. I can't stand them. I would seriously consider running in 90 degree weather over a treadmill. I don't like running indoors, I don't wanna watch TV or read when I run, and I don't like the way running on a treadmill feels. I'd rather be outside with interesting stuff to look at, no noise from the gym, a nice breeze and open air... plus I run around my neighborhood 3-4 times for each of my weekday runs, so I'm used to that fact.
I've run this countless times! |
6. Would you rather run a Ragnar Relay or a marathon relay?
I have never done either but I have heard about Ragnar and seen pictures of it. It looks interesting and maybe one of these days I'll run one.
7. Would you rather come in 4th in the Olympics or 1st in the New York City Marathon?
Olympics. Even though it's 4th I still think it would be cool just to be there and experience all of it.
8. Would you rather give up running for 1 year to get a BQ (Boston Marathon qualifying time) or never BQ
Never BQ. I have no sights on ever doing that. Give up running for a year, are you crazy?
9. Would you rather run in an urban area or on a trail?
Trail! Urban areas stress me out. Trails help me get away from the modern world and all the people - and the people you do see out there are always friendly fellow runners. I need to be in nature often and trail running helps me get that.
Not really a "trail" but very beautiful |
10. Would you rather have a headache during a run or a side stitch?
I've had both and can definitely say I'd take the side stitch. They suck but I can cope with them and keep on moving much easier than a headache. Running with a headache is pretty debilitating.
11. Would you rather run in a thunderstorm or a snowstorm?
I guess thunderstorm, it doesn't snow here so I have zero experience running in it. Oh wait, there was that one time it snowed here... but I didn't run that day
A Georgia "snowstorm" |
12. Would you rather have a rest day on a work day or a day off?
A rest day on a work day. On days off I usually do my long run or at least some sort of exercise. It makes the rest of my day go so much better.
13. Would you rather run just because or train for a race?
This is kind of a tough one for me. I do run just because - sometimes I just decide to put on my shoes and go. And at this point it's become such a huge part of my life that I can't wait very long without going for a run. But if I have a race coming up I'm much more motivated to be consistent with my runs and use more of a "training" mindset where I have plans for what distance I'm running. I do prefer to have a goal or a race to work towards. So I guess that would be my answer - training for a race.
