I'm back to heavy lifting.
... I'm so happy!!!
I backed off the weight for a month or so and switched up my training to less weight and more reps, sets to failure, etc. The goal was just to train in a different way, deload a little bit (which you should do from time to time) and maybe increase my muscular endurance along the way. But I kinda missed lifting the heavy stuff. I swear to god I haven't touched a 45 lb plate in a month. Until today!
135 lb squats!
The same weight I was working with last time I lifted heavy. Next time I squat I may up it to 155. I think I'm ready. Getting closer and closer to squatting my body weight.
Did some other leg accessory work including split squats, something I've been working on during the last few weeks. I hate those so much! But they're good for you - actually just read a T Nation article called How to Lift Forever and it's one of the 5 exercises they recommend. I already do all 5 exercises mentioned so, yay!
Finishers included dumbbell snatches, squat jumps, and burpees. My legs were dead and could take no more by the end of it all.
It just feels so good to be lifting heavy again. I dunno why, I just like to go all out and see how strong I can be. I guess it's more challenging too. Squatting 85 lbs for 15 reps just doesn't feel the same to me.
Thursday means - 95lb bench and 135lb deadlift. Running tomorrow, nice and early this time.
Hello 45's (I missed you)
