This week played out fairly well, skipped a day at the gym because I pulled something in my back. Ran 6 miles on Thursday and did some much needed shopping at the mall!
Now my back is no longer sore, which means gym time with the husband!
He wore himself out on the bike. I hate that thing, I have a weird mental block about it - somehow it makes me feel like I'm not exercising so I zone out and don't push myself hard enough. I need to be running or walking (or at least on an actual moving bike) I guess because I'm sitting down in a chair pedaling my brain doesn't register it as exercise. I did an incline walk on the treadmill. We took a few minutes for him to catch his breath. I keep telling him to do his cardio after he lifts so he doesn't wear himself out, but he insists it's what he wants to do because he likes to work up a good sweat.
We headed into deadlifts, I am getting much more proficient with the weight I'm currently working with. My husband wanted to work on biceps today so we curled and curled and curled until we could curl no more! And normally I'll do like 1 bicep exercise a week. He trains quite differently than I do. More like a bodybuilder, really. I am not training to look pretty in a bikini on a stage, I simply train to be able to do awesome things. I just like lifting heavy things. I also work on areas that will serve me well during obstacle races, like pullups/grip training, loaded carries or drags. But that's ok - I train in my own way twice a week, then on Saturdays I'll do whatever he wants to do. I figure changing things up and focusing on muscles I'm not used to working on is good for me and will only make me stronger. Having stronger biceps will help out during those big lifts and pulls. Of course we did other things like rows, lat pulldowns, shoulder work on the cable machine, abs, etc. At the end we did a boxing session which was lots of fun.
Then I took a selfie in the sauna. It's just what I do.
